Clinical Laboratory Standards

The NLC standards (Clinical Laboratory Standards) are a specific and essential benchmark for clinical analysis/clinical pathology laboratories which incorporate technical requirements established by the ISO 15189 standard for the accreditation of laboratories as well as the demands resulting from existing legislation.

In this way, the NLC standards complement the ISO 9001 standard in the certification of quality management systems in the sector, integrating specific requirements for the whole analytical process – from the pre-analytical to the post-analytical stage, including advising other health professionals and users – as well as specific requirements for the laboratory’s management and technical expertise.

The main benefits of the implementation and subsequent certification in accordance with this benchmark include:

Demonstrating the quality of laboratory performance;

Independent verification of compliance with the standard, carried out by specialists;

Increased level of customer confidence;

Recognition of the laboratory’s skills and competences;

Differentiation from competitors on the basis of recognition by an independent body.
